Description
The walk sets off from Carlos's restaurant, Praia Grande, Pera and takes in part of the boardwalk and around the nature reserve, for those twitchers there are viewing points across Lagoa dos Salgados . The walk is 9 K, for those that would just like a gentle stroll it is possible to take an un-guided walk along the boardwalk and meet at the restaurant for lunch. Non-Walkers are also welcome to join us for lunch, please state in notes if your are not walking.
Meeting Point/Parking
There is plenty of parking on the dirt road, next to the boardwalk leading down to the restaurant. We will meet at 10:15 for a 10:30 start. For those lunching, the restaurant is booked for 13:00.
Directions from Alcantarilha:- When driving from the Lagoa direction on the 125 by-pass the village of Alcantarilha and you will reach a roundabout with Barbot paints on the far side of the roundabout, turn right and head for Armacao de Pera, straight at the next roundabout and pass the campsite on your right, turn left at the next roundabout, signposted Albufiera, at the next roundabout carry straight on, signposted Pera/Albufiera.
At the next roundabout take the first exit, signposted praia grande and to Carlos restautrant & bar. The tarmac road will lead onto a dirt track, again signposted to Carlos restaurant, carry on until near to the end of the track, the boardwalk to Carlos bar is on your left. p.s don't wash your car just before your journey.
Directions from Vale de Parra:- At the donkey roundabout, head for Armacao de Pera on M526, pass the Centro Hipico on your right and at your next roundabout, take the 3rd exit, signposted Praia Grande and follow the directions in the above paragraph. You can also google the directions.
Equipment
Walking boots are advisable, however, sturdy walking shoes or trainers (with good grips) will be OK. As we are stopping for lunch you should not require food for the walk, however, it is advisable to take plenty of liquid.
Please note that the walks organised by SDM or their representatives are done so on a voluntary basis and the club or organisers cannot be held responsible for your personal safety.
Lunch at Restaurant
Lunch is at Carlos restaurant Pera Praia Grande, the restaurant is in an excellent location with views of the sea and regularly used by our members that live in the area.
Menu
The cost of the meal is 27€, including covert, main course, wine (red, white rose), beer & water.
Main Course (please chose one of the following)
• Paella, with squid, clams, prawns
• Pork & Chicken Cataplana (No fish or shell fish)
• Vegetarian Option - Omelette (ham, cheese or plain), with salad
Please state your main course choice when signing up on the website, entries will close 0n 16th April, after this date, you are committed to pay for the cost of the food.
