Despite a narrow loss 2-3 at home to Palmares we have gained a place in the top table and move into third spot. Hopefully we can stay in the top four this season and avoid the drop. Today's game was littered with some strangly high scores, two wins and three losses.
A group of 39 members and their partners enjoyed warm weather and lots of fun in Spain. 31 golfers
competing over 2 or 3 days and 8 ladies of leisure who either, relaxed by the pool, indulged in Spa
treatments or went sightseeing. On the second day 10 people watched the fantastic equestrian
display in Jerez.
SdM recorded probably their best result so far this season with a fabulous result beating league leaders Floresta Parque 4-1.
With a largely inexperienced side SdM beat a very strong Floresta Parque side who are reknowned for their durability and nous. Full of long hitters and low handicappers the home side knew they were in for a tough match.
SdM defeated Tavira 3&2 ffor a home win today. Lots of close games with most being decided on the last. This moves us into fourth place in Division One with those above us having played more games. Next week we face PdF at home. Register via the website if you wish to be considered for selection.
SdM suffered their first defeat of the season with a very narrow loss to Pinheiros Altos 3-2.
On a beautiful day with the course in absolute pristine condition the stage was set for a very competitive match against opponents with vastly more experience than the home side. All of the matches finished early with now match passing the 16th.
Two pairings starred for SdM, Bob Coe and Les Smith winning 3&2 and Steve Edwards and Peter Chapman playing very good golf and winning 5&3.
SdM's latest funday was a matchplay challenge- The English vs The Dutch.
The English were clad in Red whilst the Dutch were in the tradional Orange. The matches were fought fiercely but fairly, most matches being close.
SdM continued their successful run in the Algarve Interclub Knockout Trophy after last seasons triumph. This now means the club have won seven matches in a row, let’s hope for two more this year!
On a very blustery but dry day nearly all the matches reached the last green. A special word for Tommy Sundin and Steve Barrett winning on their debuts.
The course was presented very well and we received lots of compliments from the visitors.
