EGA handicap system published by FPG ‘Sistema de Handicap 2007-2011’
The Rules of Golf define the forms of play and the European Golfing Association (EGA) has recommended methods of calculating handicap allowances, see below. The Committee running a competition has the discretion to vary the methods of calculating handicap allowances. Variations should be published with the notice of the competition.
Match play competitions.
Singles:
Full difference of playing handicap given
Foursome matchplay competitions:
The side with the higher sum of the Playing Handicaps receives 50% of the full difference
between the aggregate handicap of each side (0.5 rounded upwards).
Four-ball match play competitions:
The player with the lowest playing handicap, who shall play from scratch, to concede handicap Strokes to the
three other players based on 90% difference between the playing handicaps (0.5 rounded upwards).
Greensomes match play competitions:
This format is not defined in the Rules of Golf. It is a variation of a foursome where both players drive but the
sequence of alternating shots is determined after the drive has been taken.
The partner with the lower playing handicap receives 60%of his playing handicap and the partner with the higher
handicap receives 40% of his playing handicap. Both figures are added before rounding up. This aggregated
figure is then rounded upwards and the side with the higher playing handicap receives the full difference
between the handicaps of the two sides (0.5 rounded upwards).
Bogey, Par, Stableford and Stroke play competitions
Singles:
Full difference of playing handicap given
Foursomes:
The side receives 50% of the sum of the playing handicaps of the partners (0.5 rounded upwards).
Fourball:
Each partner receives 90% of his playing handicap (0.5 rounded upwards).
Greensome:
The partner with the lower playing handicap receives 60%of his playing handicap and the partner with the higher
