Thanks to everyone who helped make it a great day and an unforgettable experience. We enjoyed every minute of it, from the early morning until the late evening. A lot of people contributed, and we only met smiling faces and happy players. Thanks to all the volunteers, you made a great effort to make this happen.
We were lucky with the weather, can´t ask for more than this in the end of September. Everyone appreciated the half way food. Thanks to Bedi who brought the cod tongues the long way from Barents Sea north of Norway to Algarve. Yes, it is correct, you were eating cod tongues!
We had a wonderful evening at Vale d Oliveiras, a beautiful venue, and the food was very good.
Thank you so much.

Today we played an important IL-match against Carvoeiro. They arrived with a lot of confidence and many players with low hcps. We realized that this would be a battle. It didn´t help that we were missing one player minutes before tee off. She had gone to a wrong course, Gramacho, and was waiting for us there. Luckily she came to Silves on time, and managed to win the game!
This was our last match this season. With this win we will stay first or second in our division, depending of some other matches, but we are confident of promotion to second division next year.
This is a great result for the club. Congratulations to all the players today, and to everyone contributed this year. A special thank you to Richard Emrich, who has prepared the score cards for all home matches. It is so easy to come to the club house early in the morning and just pick up the score cards, we do not appreciate that there is a lot of work behind this.

Thanks to all of you.

So there we were the Interleagus and promotion;
The fat (rotund in this PC world) lady was warming up;
The champagne was chilling nicely;
All the chickens were counted;
The ducks were nicely in a row ... and then
Well there are many truisms in life;
Every cloud has a silver lining (not if you grew up in Sunderland - it just meant it was going to rain more)
The cheque is in the post (never has been)
Cheer up it could get worse (tried it once - it just got worse)
And the biggest lie of all
"home advantage is massive in golf"

So today we met our friends from Levante for the third time this season, now I didnt want to mention this before but these guys actually knocked us out of the cup AT SILVES earlier this year, we compounded the sin by beating them at their patch on Tuesday and so.....

Today the IL team achieved a magnificent victory by four matches to one against a very strong team on the Quinta de Cima course.

We started the day a point ahead of Levante each team having three games to play.
As you know away victories are very difficult and to win by such a margin gives us a stunning 9 points (2 points for each win plus an away win bonus point) against 2 for Levante.

The course was in a lovely condition although preferred lies were in place due to the Algarve wide water shortage, the food was exceptional value and the competitive spirit was exemplary from both sides.

The return fixture is on Thursday and the final league game against Carvoeiro takes place next Tuesday (please sign up to support the team in our efforts to achieve promotion)

Wow! what a fantastic day we had! 120 ladies looking fabulous all dressed in pink, (well nearly all!) playing golf at Silves.

The SdM 'pink boys' did a superb job of looking after the registration, giving out scorecards, pink golf balls, tees, AOA pens and Miss Designer vouchers or selling Mulligans. Not to mention setting up the course with pink tee markers and flags. They happily served us with water and Brassiere Rosal's wraps. Sarah Keen and Erin Schmidt did a great job selling golf balls and pre owned golf clothing. Dionne of Blevin Franks took photographs near the 18th green, the best pink pose will win a dinner at a restaurant. The ladies from Wine & Co. served Rose wine near the 18th green too. 2algarve added to the fun taking photographs and videos of the day. All the players received a welcome drink on arrival at the clubhouse, thanks Stefano Silvestre, Catering Manager. Maria de Lurdes, who founded the AOA enjoyed meeting so many supporters and giving personal thanks.
Certainly made it a special day to remember!

The event has raised in excess of €8,660 for the Algarvean Oncology Association, fantastic!

This will help fund the mobile breast screening unit and more, hopefully helping to save Ladies lives.

On behalf of AOA and the Sdm Pink Ladies we would like to express our appreciation to everyone, and there are too many to name, who have; played in the event, donated a prize, drink, given their time to prepare the event in some way and of course the 120 lovely ladies who played.

Thank you to Keith Scott and Chris Zismides for collating the results.

Julie Barratt

Many congratulations to SdM member Julie Barratt on her first ever hole in one. She achieved this brilliant feat on the 3rd hole at Silves, this is a particularly difficult hole and the pin was placed in the most difficult part of the green, so very well done Julie!!
