February Captain’s Charity Walk

Description 

The walk is around the Ilha do Rosario, which has views of the Arade and Odelouca rivers. The walk is fairly gentle lasting approximately 2 hours, covering 8 kilometres. 

Meeting Point/Parking 

You will need a car for this walk; we will meet at Mira Rio Restaurant at 10:30, with the walk starting at 10:45. To reach the starting point you will need to drive over the bridge in the Silves direction, turn left at the traffic lights and head on main road towards Portimao/ Monchique. After 5 km you will see Mio Rio Cafe on your left.

From Portimão. Leave the EN125 at the Hospital roundabout and head North towards Morgado & Monchique. Keep on this road, until 3km after the left turn to Morgado, where you take the 1st exit at the roundabout towards Silves. Mira Rio is 1km on the right, immediately after the bridge.

The restaurant will be open in the morning so you could have a coffee before the walk. Walkers may leave their cars in the restaurant car park whilst on the walk.

Equipment

Walking boots are advisable, however, sturdy walking shoes or trainers will be OK. As this is a short walk you should not require food for the walk, however, it is advisable to take liquids. If it looks like rain then the walk will be postponed the day prior to the walk (email notification). With all the good weather that the Algarve offers we do not see any point in walking in the rain! 

Captain’s Charity

A voluntary contribution of 5 euro towards the Captain’s Charity can be made either to Keith and Alison when you are not having lunch. Otherwise please pay Dave Tweed at the lunch.

Optional Lunch 

As the walk commences at the Mio Rio Restaurant, we intend to have lunch there following the walk and expect to be eating around 13:00hrs.

Vegetarian options are: Salads, Soup, Pasta or an Omelet

All drinks included – Euro 10pp incl. tip (plus 5 Euros for the charity)

Please enter via the website stating if you are just walking, just eating or both. If you are having lunch please add your lunch choices as well.

The walk will be organised by Keith and Alison Scott.

Lunch will be organised by Dave Tweed.
