May Captain’s Charity Walk
The May Captain’s charity walk will be held on Wednesday 22nd May 2019.
Description
Long Walk
This walk starts at Praia do Amado (lovers Beach) on the west coast. At 16 km, the walk is longer than we have previously walked, but it is relatively easy with only a few uphill sections. Given that we will be taking food and drink with us there are no time constraints on us to make a lunch stop. It is expected to take us about 5hrs taking in the village of Vilharinha and we will stop at Praia Da Bordeira to eat our lunch, there is a restaurant at this location if you would like an alternative refreshment. The walk then continues around Pontal and back to the car at Amado beach.
Short Walk
The short walk is 7km and follows the same path as the longer walk and then cuts back towards the village of Carrapateira where you will stop for refreshmants (this is just under half way). The path then leads you to the coast, where you will walk for approximately 2km and back to the car park.

Please note that dogs are welcome, but be prepared to meet other dogs that are not on a lead and may not be as friendly.
Meeting Point/Parking
We will meet at 10:15 for 10:30 start at the car park above Praia du Amado, it will take you approximately 53 minutes from Silves golf course. If approaching from the south take the N268 towards Carrapateira. Just before the village there is a road to the left signposted to Praia do Amado, follow the road down to the beach and park in one of the 2 car parks just above the beach.
Equipment
Walking boots are advisable, however, sturdy walking shoes or trainers will be OK. Sufficient liquid refreshments and food should be taken for the duration of the walk.

A voluntary contribution of 5 euro towards the Captain’s Charity can be made to the organiser of the walk
