Description
The walk sets off from Estacionament Praia de Faro (near Faro airport) and enters part of the Ria Formosa national park. The walk is very flat and 7.5km in length, it takes you around inlet and salt flats, if you are lucky enough, you will see flamingos.
Meeting Point/Parking
There is plenty of parking at Estacionament Praia de Faro, however, there are no toilet facilities there. If you require refreshments prior to the walk then I suggest that you take the short drive to Praia de Faro, where there are plenty of bars and restaurants. We will meet at the car park at 10:45 and start walking at 11:00.
Equipment
Walking boots are advisable, however, sturdy walking shoes or trainers (with good grips) will be OK. As we are stopping for lunch you should not require food for the walk, however, it is advisable to take plenty of liquid.
Please note that the walks organised by SDM or their representatives are done so on a voluntary basis and the club or organisers cannot be held responsible for your personal safety.
Lunch Orui at Restaurant
24 places have been booked at the Orui restaurant, which is adjacent to Praia de Faro. After the walk has concluded you drive 1k over the bridge towards the beach and park up in the car park in front of you, the restaurant is on the left.
A fixed menu has not been chosen, simply chose from the menu online and let me have your food choice 1 week prior to the walk. The restaurant will be set up in tables of 4, so sit with someone who you agree how the bill will be split.
