The SDM team produced a very creditable performance in the most recent installment of the Fermon Trophy (Quatro Cup) help at Vila Sol on the 10th March. The team managed to accrue 192 points which was good enough to secure second place on the day behind the hosts Vila Sol who scored 199 and ahead of Carvoeiro Golf & Country Club (184) and Alto (172).
The SDM pairings scored well in breezy conditions in particular Peter & Marja Chapman who returned the equal top score of the day (42) and Mick Girling and Malcolm Cook who managed an excellent 40 points.
With one round to go Carvoeiro G&CC (773 points) are in a strong position to win the trophy as they have a 23 point lead over the their nearest rivals. The rest of the pack is tightly packed with Alto and Vila Sol on 750 with SDM just behind on 747. So a good result in the final round could see SDM jump into at least second place.
The other pairings were:
Lynn Cook & Warren Tennant 39 pts
Sandy Rumfitt & Richard Whiteley 39
Maz McGill & Charles Bradshaw 32
Judy Murphy & Chris Nickels 29
