Dave's Drive In

So the weather relented and the captain’s drive in took place on the 6th of April a week later than originally intended.
A slightly reduced, but still very impressive, field of seventy two from the previous week braved the less than typical Algarvean weather to enjoy a fantastic day.
To summarise:
I managed a moderate 181 metres with my opening drive and Eddie Kassner won the pot – which he immediately donated to the captain´s charity the excellent Castelho de Sonhos that continue to do such great work for the local community.

Per Lars capped a fantastic year as captain by managing to three putt the final green with the whole of those present cheering him on. I had the pleasure of presenting him with a souvenir shirt to remember a very successful year in charge.
Alison Scott won the ladies nearest the pin with Phil Schofield winning it for the men.
Liv Namtvedt and Tony Seal won the nearest the line drives.
An excellent barbeque prepared by the staff at Pestana was enjoyed by almost half of the attendees The surprise of the day was the incredible version of the haka performed by Ria, Elaine, Jan, Denise, Frida and Debbie from an idea that I believe may have involved Julia.
Most importantly, the captain´s charity benefitted to the tune of 671€ an excellent result.
I look forward to the next twelve months and hopefully helping to contribute to the continued growth of Serra de Monchique as an inclusive and fun club to belong to.
