Today the Thursday boys and girls met up at La Bella Vita restaurant near Carvoeiro to celebrate the annual pre Christmas dinner. Organised as ever by the one and only Dave Tweed, 66 of us sat down to a sunlit lunch protected from the Algarvian winter by being indoors. Dave read out the league table from the bottom up and after the ritual humiliation of the losers, Per Lars (in second place) and Simon Arnes (overall winner) suffered the ultimate humiliation of having to accept one of Tweedie’s renowned trophies!

Then to the serious stuff, as President Richard Emrich and captain Dave Darling paid tribute to the great contribution made by Dave Tweed and Mel & Karen Huxtable over the last few years.
Mel was presented with a momento of his victory in the Past Captain’s cup and Karen received an amazing three trophies representing her victories in the President’s cup, the spring cup and the Order of Merit.

To round off a great golfing year for the Huxtables, Ken Sheldon also received a trophy for his role in the winning President’s cup team.

We all wish Karen and Mel and family a speedy return.

Finally Richard relayed the news that, Mel, Karen and Dave Tweed have all been nominated for honorary membership of the club, subject to ratification by the Annual General Meeting.
