Captain’s Drive In 2025

The Captain's drive in commenced with the new Captain Keith Scott driving off on the first tee, the shot didn't go exactly to plan as it hit a tree on the right hand side of the fairway and thankfully landed in a playable position. The length of the drive was 146 metres, which was guessed by 2 members, who kindly donated their winnings back to the charity.

The golf was played in perfect conditions, as the sun was shining, providing us with the hottest day of the year so far, this was ok for the early starters, however, many of the later players had 5 hour rounds and looked a little hot and bothered when they came into the clubhouse. Simon, Christine assisted by his helpers Jackie & Chris provided refreshments to the players, which was well received by all.

Following the game, it was the outgoing Captain's turn to make his put out on the 18th green, Dave managed to 4 put, however, it was from a difficult position and using a ball the had been slightly modified.

The competition was won by Maddy Van Kleef and Hilke Glienke, with a magnificent 48 points, with Jan & Kevin Bell in second place, followed by Bob Cutt & Mick MacFarlane in third. There were 2 nearest the pin prizes 3rd hole men, Keith Scott, 15th hole ladies, Michelle Leigh.

The Captain's chosen charity is Madrugada, a magnificent 1070 euro was raised from the guess the length of the drive and members purchasing bunker passes. This will be much appreciated by the charity.

Following the speeches given by the incoming and outgoing Captains a presentation ceremony was held to recognise the achievements of our members in the board and high profile competitions.
