To help me celebrate my 60th Birthday, 36 wonderful ladies joined together in an Individual Stableford Competition. Not only ladies from SDM, but guests from Amendoeira, Vale de Milho and Carvoeiro Golf & Country Club.

The weather was perfect with sunshine and very little wind. The course in perfect condition with guests marvelling at the state of our greens and perfect fairways.

Patricia from our halfway house, alongside our wonderful helpers Christine Caudle and Jackie Smith, ran a fantastic halfway house, with kiwi style food supplied by Denise, Fresh orange juice from oranges sourced from Mags & David Taylor’s orchard, Almond cake provided by Patricia’s Mother, and rocket fuelled Sangria’s created by Patricia. There was fun, laughter and good spirits all around.

We had wonderful donations from Debbie Newton, Wendy Emrich, Ria Raap, Wendy Burns, Jill Edwards, Anne Webber, Anne Wakenshaw, Elaine Wraith and Beatrice Brack for Nearest the Pins, Nearest the Line and the Longest Drive. The prizes were equally shared amongst the field.

The golf scores were very evenly matched across the field, but the first three prizes were:

1st Place with 43 points – Beatrice Brack

2nd Place with 38 points – Bernie Kilbride

3rd Place with 36 points (on a countback) – Judith Greenwood

After the prizegiving, the ladies surprised me with a wonderful chocolate cake complete with 60 golf balls on top, made by Allison Scott, and a glass of bubbles for everyone.
