On Saturday, 76 of you took part in the Captain’s Day competition. The full results have, of course, been issued, and I’m sure all members will join me in congratulating the top seven. There were just three points separating first place from seventh place, which made for a very exciting competition.

The trophy was awarded to Ian and Anne Wakenshaw, with an excellent score of 46 points. Congratulations to them!

We were blessed with some beautiful weather on Saturday, and there was some great golf played by so many of you. Once again, I’m sure you will all join me in thanking everyone involved in organising the day, particularly Eddie, for all his hard work in setting everything up and producing the results. Also my thanks to Mick & Les and all those of you who helped make the day so successful.

We enjoyed some great refreshments provided by our lovely Patricia, while Christine, Mags Taylor and I did our best to keep everyone hydrated with our mobile buggy bar!

It was wonderful to see so many of you staying behind on the terrace. We raised €80 for the club’s charity with our “tossing the coin at the bottle” competition, with Jon Kendrick being the winning tosser on the day. Well done, Jon!

Whilst we had to compete with the building work going on around us, Denise and I were able to announce the winners of the Nearest the Pin (NTP) and Nearest the Line (NTL) competitions.

On Sunday, around 85 members and their guests enjoyed a magnificent meal at Pashmina Restaurant in Carvoeiro, with excellent entertainment provided by the band 33 LM
