There were scenes of devestation in Lagoa today Friday 16th November as during monumental thunderstorms a tornado caused massive localised damage as it passed within metres of a supermarket and filling station.

 

Huge eucalyptus trees were blown over and extensive damage was done to a footbridge and nearly all the road signs were flattened. Local workmen were clearing up withing minutes. News helicopters were seen circling above the carnage.

At the time of writing there were no reports of casualties.

After Lagoa the tornado hit Silves taking the roof off the swimming pool and virtually destroying the football stadium. Watch the video here.
