A fantastic day was enjoyed by all those who took part in The Rhiannon Trophy event last Friday 29th August.
It was run in aid of Angelo, our Head Green Keepers special needs son. Last year the contributions help to pay fees, medical treatments and a special wheel chair.
The Trophy is named after the Granddaughter of Terri and Brian Randall, Rhiannon, who also is a special needs child. as she lives in the UK all her schooling and care is paid for but Alberto receives little or no help towards Angelo's.
Pestana kindly gave Pinta golf course for the day plus it's full backing.
92 players took part.
Terri and Brian would like to thank everybody for being there and entering in the right spirit.
The format was individual stableford and with the first three places all on 38 points it was decided by a count back,
SdM members were first and third.
1st place was George Cook, 2nd place James Claydon 3rd place Andy Mattinson,
Young James aged 13 played off the Whites, well done.
Thanks to all the sponsors Pestana, Liberation, Amendoeira, Importeco, Golf for Greys, Wim Piper, Gary and Gill Edwards, The Golf Shack, SICG, Jimmy and Dawn Goodfellow, Steve Watkins, Mick Girling, and Paul Spallin all the golf courses and local restaurants and with help from Steve Edwards who stepped up to the plate as the Auctioneer.
Thanks also to Terri and Trish for selling the raffle tickets and Geoff for doing the cards.
The day raised in excess of €6000! This is an incredible achievement, a tribute to all the hard work put in and by the generosity of all those who played and guests who came after and bought raffle tickets and dug deep into there pockets for the auction and those who could not make it but made a donation.
Those who left just before missed a great gesture from Steve Edwards, he would undertake the Ice Bucket Challenge providing €100.00 euro was raised, and with the help of Terri and Brian's daughter Tracy the final figure was increased €260.00.
Thanks again to all the hard work from Terri and Brian in making this such a successful day.
