The 2014 Knockout Competition has finished with the last of the finals completed at the end of September. This year proved to be very competitive with increased entries in all categories. The biggest field was in the Mens Singles event in which Alan Winstanley and Mick Girling fought their way to the final where Alan managed to hold off Mick to win the match. The Ladies Singles champion is Mags Taylor who retained her title by beating Sandy Rumfitt in the final.
The Mens Doubles also saw the 2013 winners Bill Goodwin and Geoff Cox make it through to the last match but there was not be a repeat of their previous years triumph as they came up against an inspired Ian Chapman who along with his partner David Taylor ran out comfortable winners.
The Ladies Doubles final was a very competitive affair going all the way to the final hole with Marja Chapman and Pippa Tennant managed to hold off the challenge of Lynn Cook and Gill Edwards for a 1up victory. The Mixed Doubles final also featured Marja, this time with husband Peter. The final against Wim and Marieke Hoffman was a close run thing but Marja and Peter managed to win the match and retain the trophy they won in 2013
The presentation of prizes for the 2014 Knockouts will take place during the Presentation Evening to be held on the 2nd November.
