Another great weekend of fun. The weekend of June 16 -17 saw the annual SdM Captain’s Day and Reception. The format for the golf was a Pairs Betterball Stableford and a field of 92 players produced some great golf - well done to all those who won a prize but especially Gillian Duplessis and Wendy Emrich for taking the Captain's Jug home and to John and Kitty Usher for winning the Best Guest prize.

Prizes were presented during the Captain’s Reception which took place in Caldas de Monchique where 103 members and guests were in attendance. The Captain thanked a number of people who had made the weekend such a success:

• Sue Price, Joan Blakeman, Jackie Smith and Barbara Briggs for their support with the halfway house, Mel Huxtable, Mick Caudle and Phil Kelly for erecting the halfway house and Phil as photographer.
• Pestana staff both on and off the course.
• Also Rui Antonio and his staff from Caldas de Monchique who did a great job keeping us fed and watered.
• The Poor Man’s Band and DJ Simon for the great music.
• Marja Chapman for her administration of the Dinner and Yvonne Pyper for her support over the last 6 months.

Finally Euan thanked all the players and those who attended the reception and acknowledged that the success of the weekend was due to the support of a great membership.
