A stunning win for SdM vs Boavista in our first appearance in the final of the Interclub Knockout Trophy. In a very close match we came out winners thanks to some very strong finishes.

The last match out saw Glenning Pennington birdie the 18th to secure a half and the final point to secure the match. Earlier Michael Docherty and Damir Babikov had won 2&1, third group out Gunnar Eskilisson and Per Lars Tonstad had lost 3&2. Fourth match saw a comfortable win 5&4 for Club Captain Euan Pyper and Gordon Wilkie. By far the most drama came in the first group, Steve Edwards and Jimmy Cruz faced a monumental game againt a brilliant young golfer just out of college and a very steady lady. Not playing well in the first 9 SdM started the second half 3 behind and soon were 4 down. However 4 birdies in the last 5 holes saw a miraculous half from nowhere. Jimmy birdied 14 and Steve birdied 16,17 and 18 to finish the back nine in 31 shots. An incredible half snatched from the jaws of defeat. This epitomises the attitude of the whole team this season.
