Saturday 24th November saw the St. Andrew's Golf fun day, start off with torrential rain. Fortunately the weather stabilised and the fun began.
The entry was 84 and took the format of a pairs betterball Stableford competition to win the Quaich Trophy. In 3rd place were Jeff and Lorna Lamb with 42 points, runners up were Keith Lancaster and Dave Brewster with 42 points but with a better back 9, and the winners were Glenn Pennington and Steve Morgan with a fantastic score of 43 points in what were very wet conditions. Nearest the Pin prizes went to,
Hole 4: Dave Brewster and Jill Edwards
Hole 16: Gary Edwards and Gill Edwards
A tremendous effort was made in dressing up for the occasion with the winners of best dressed/most inventive, Ladies: Shelly Davison and Men: Dave Tweed.
There was an abundance of prizes, including whisky, wine and chocolates. The halfway house was exceptional again this year, with lots of Scottish Fare. A big thank you to Stuart and Kath Deans for taking charge of the event and also to halfway house helpers, Hermione MacFarlane, Margaret O'Reilly and Jackie Smith.
To round off the day, some of the Poor Man's Band entertained a healthy number of members who stayed behind for the celebrations, by singing and playing some great Scottish numbers.
Next year the competition will be held on 30th November, which is the actual St. Andrew's Day. We look forward to yet another great day.
