AMERICAN FOURSOMES PAIRS COMPETITION

American Foursomes is a two-person team golf format where both partners tee off, then switch balls for the second shot, choose the best position, and then play alternate shots until the hole is finished.

Step-by-Step Format Rules:

1st Shot: Both team members hit their own tee shot.
2nd Shot: Each player hits a second shot using their partner's ball.

Selection: The pair then looks at both results and chooses which ball is in the best position. The other ball is picked up and removed from play.

3rd Shot: The owner of the ball that was not selected plays the third shot.

Remaining Shots: From the fourth shot onward, partners alternate strokes using that single ball until it is holed out.

Handicap: Take 60-percent of the lower-handicapped golfer’s handicap and add it to 40-percent of the higher-handicapped golfer's handicap. The sum is the side's handicap.
