What a great afternoon/lunch to mark the end of our quarterly Thursday boys competition at the Brasserie Rosal.
Congratulations to our overall winner Pete Steward and well done to you all for making every Thursday the great success that it always is.
Photos show Dave giving his creative hand crafted prizes to the relevant recipients, Rob, John, Euan, Mick, Steve, Per Lars and overall quarterly Winner Pete.
Our thanks go to Andi, Nico and all their fantastic staff at Brasserie Rosal for ensuring our Thursday boys have a most enjoyable afternoon.
The afternoon and the weeks that lead up to this day is all thanks to the legendary Tweedy, our Thursday boys organiser, Thank you mate.

Congratulations to SdM member Steve Edwards on his hole in one at the 13th hole on Silves.
It was Steve's 3rd hole in one and his second at this hole.
With a slight helping breeze Steve hit 7 iron from the back tee, a shot that measured 137 metres. It was a sweetly struck shot and looked on line straight away, however when he got to the green he was slightly worried he could not see his ball and feared it had run through the back, then he noticed the ball in the hole!
This year's Captain's Drive In took place in it's new month of April, and we were greeted to much warmer weather than we are used to in January.
A large group of members were present to witness the ceremonial putt out on the 18th and the drive off on the first. Out going Captain Des Briggs duly putted before handing over to new Captain Les Smith to smash his drive, slightly right but since our course change he was not in danger of finding water!
The format was two ball better ball with a shot gun start, and was won by Les himself and wife Jackie with a remarkable score of 49 pts! Well done Skipper!
After the competition lunch was served followed by presentations of last year's trophies which were unable to be distributed due to restrictions.

This year's Christmas Hamper texas scramble was played under blue skys, although we had to wait a few extra days!
A large turn out and a shot gun start all led to a very socially distanced but brilliant day. The course continues to be in great condition, the greens improving and the fairways drying out. Charles Bradshaw and Ken Shelton sponsored and presented the prizes for nearest the pins, whilst Captain Des Briggs presented the hampers to the winners.
A very special thanks to all those at SdM who have continued to organise competitons throughout these difficult times.

Saturday the 24th Oct saw the 2020 running of the Serra de Monchique Golf Club President’s Day competition. The Seattle Shambles event saw 76 players (19 teams) competing to get their names on the honours board. After a chilly start the sun shone and the combination of little wind along with a well prepared course the conditions were just about perfect for golf. When the cards were returned it proved to be a competitive affair at the top of the leader board with the top seven teams being separated by only 3 points!
The prize winners were as follows:
Winners – Clive Davison, Bernard O’Reilly, Kieran O’Brien & Hilke Glienke (98pts)
Runners Up – Bob McMahon, Bob Cutt, Les Smith & Hans van der Laar (97pts, 52 back 9)
Third – Mel Huxtable, Richard Emrich, Ronnie Wraith, Jimmy Cruz (97pts, 49 back 9)

This year, considering we have had COVID, lockdown, travel restrictions and generally life has been "different" the generosity of others never ceases to amaze me.
Thanks to you, a massive 956 euros was raised on this years Pink Ladies Day. The dinner dance in March raised 406 euros. In total, so far this year the huge figure of 1,362 euros has been raised.
Half of the money raised will be sent to the AOA and the other half will be for "Algarve families in need" a local charity that SDM has been supporting through the current crisis.
