The Holiday Inn at Armação de Pêra was the fabulous location for our presentation evening of the Christmas Hampers, a very well attended event with a super buffet followed by brilliant music from Tiago (5EX band), who soon had the dance floor rocking.
The presentations were by our Captain Mags Taylor who couldn't help to congratulate not only the winners but all our members who made it such a stunning weekend. It was great to get back to some normality after a couple of tough years.
There were some very low scores and the prizes were awarded to:
Thankfully a break in the wet weather gave SdM a chance to host it's annual Christmas Hamper competition followed by the Carol Concert conducted by David Taylor with our Captain Mags Taylor on the keyboard.
As usual the format is a Texas Scramble with the teams having very similar handicaps to give all a chance. The results will be announced at the Christmas Party. Congratulations to all the organisers who continually give us their time and effort.
All competitors were asked to bring some food for a buffet, the uptake was fabulous and we all ate very well.
There were some fabulous costumes, lots of Santa hats and Christmas Jumpers! The prizes for the best dressed Man and Lady went to Daniele Gambetta and Jill Edwards.
Thursday 1st December Ladies Day started off cold and grey, thankfully the weather got warmer and brighter. 31 SDM ladies and guests played a Seattle Shambles, some in the traditional Christmas jumpers. The presentation was held after a delicious lunch at Chrissy’s restaurant in Lagoa. Seven non golfing guests joining the lunch making it a lively, fun day to remember.

What a great day.
We were very lucky with the weather for the Jimmy Goodfellow Quaich competition. It was wonderful to see a full house. This demonstrated the respect for Jimmy, a true Gentleman. 80 members including their guests turned up to celebrate the day and of course Saint Andrew by meeting for a tasty lunch and entertainment by the Poor Man’s Band. We were very honored that Dawn Goodfellow, accompanied by Daisy who agreed to present the prizes. €106 was raised for the Captain’s Charity, well done SdM and the all the prize winners. A big thanks to all the Scots who continue to donate some great prizes.
On Thursday 27th October the SDM ladies played for the Thursday Ladies Trophy.
