Congratulations to one of our more mature members who had the first hole in one of the year at Silves.
Another beautiful Algarvean winters day saw a large turn out welcome in new Captain Mel Huxtable and said farewell and thank you to departing Captain Euan Pyper.
Euan putted out on the 18th green accompanied by some Scottish pipe music, we then all transfered to the first tee singing a song written by Mags Taylor to the tune of "This is the way to Amarosa" where Mel hit the first tee shot of the day, a remarkable for Mel 149 meters!
Sdm held their 2018 Christmas dinner dance at Amendoeira on Saturday 8th December. There was a presentation of the Foundation Cup and Order of Merit Trophies.
On Saturday 1st December Sdm held the seventh annual Christmas Carol event at Silves. Members wore their Christmas jumpers or festive outfits to play golf and sing songs in the clubhouse.
Saturday 24th November saw the St. Andrew's Golf fun day, start off with torrential rain. Fortunately the weather stabilised and the fun began.
Our hugely successful season reached an end at this years Finals Day held at Vila Sol. Our team certainly excelled again with a fine allround performance that saw us pipped at the post by one point, however second place out of 18 teams is a fabulous performance.

Visit to the Algarve Oncology Association
Friday, November 9th saw Wendy Emrich, Marja Chapman and Karen Huxtable heading to Faro to officially hand over a cheque of 4,000 Euros to the Algarve Oncology Association. The 4,000 Euros was raised at the Pink Ladies Golf Day held in August this year. Maria de Lurdes, from the AOA was the representative to take the cheque and to show us around.
