
Mel Huxtable wins this years Spring Cup! Two rounds of 37 points was enough to beat Mags Taylor's 40-34 on count back.
SdM suffered a narrow defeat at Alto today. The match hung in the balance right up to the final match which sadly didn't go our way. Always a very tough place to play the team tried very hard, sadly to no avail. There were to good wins, Mike Carr and Bob Coe ran out 5&4 winners as did the Ian Chapman & Gill Edwards pairing, again 5&4.
A great result by SdM today, beating Boavista 4-1 so completing the double. This sets up our season nicely, with our next two matches being against Alto and PdF.
The scene was set by the first pair, Steve Edwards and Chris Price who won 4&3 soon to be followed into the clubhouse by Mike Carr and Bob "Bilko" Coe who also won 4&3.
Third pair in the hutch were rookie Arthur Greenwood and Ray Groves who were on the end of a 5&4 pounding, our only loss.The match was decided when Captain Geoff Cox and Bill Goodwin crossed the line with a 2&1 win.

St Georges Day was celebrated today with a matchplay challenge, England taking on the rest of the world. 48 members fought out the game at a bright but very breezy Silves course. All matches were played in a fantastic spirit with the eventual winners being the Rest of the World 7 - 5, the result hung in the balance with the final match going to the last green. Well another great ladies day on the sunny Algarve, 22 lady members and guests turned out on this beautiful day. All enjoyed the game of Seattle Shambles, the winning teams being:
45 SdM members enjoyed a fabulous evening at the Italia Restaurant in the charming village of Ferragudo. They were treated to anti pasta, two pasta dishes, pizzas and a delicious dessert. The club thanks Rafa and Enza for their generosity and hospitality. We all hope we can go back soon!
