The Final game of the Vacs Trophy was played yesterday at Alto Golf Club with 40 ladies taking part. It was a lovely sunny day and everyone enjoyed their game and the meal which followed the game. A big thank you to all the ladies who have supported this event and we look forward to next year,s games when we hope to do a little better.
Many congratulations must go to our interleague team who had a fine victory away to
Boavista. All matches were very close but the big swing, and eventual turning point,
came when Gary and Gill Edwards fought from 3 down to win on the last green.
Other scores:
GeoffCox/Bill Goodwin: half
George and Lynn Cook: lost 1 down
Steve Edwards/Chris Price: half
Mike Carr/Bob (Bilko) Coe: 2 up
Our next fixture is the return match against Boavista at Silves on 25th April.

Congratulations to our Brummie member Chris Price on his hole in one today at the 9th.
Congratulations to SdM player Miguel Heliodoro on winning the fifth running of John Stilwell Trophy.
Miguel carded a 79 (38pts) to take the title of this prestigious event. In a field of nearly 100 players in wet conditions Miguel did brilliantly to drop just 6 shops to par.
John Stilwell was one of the original founders off the Penina Resort.
A huge turnout and fine weather saw a great Irish celebration. Members Judi Murphy and Liam Caroll provided us with a good halfway house pit stop. 60 players contested the Irish vs the Rest Matchplay game. The Rest took control of the famous "Tweedy Leaderboard" but a strong Irish finish took the score to all square. The two Captains, Judi Murphy and Geoff Cox agreed to play up the 19th to find a winner.
Our team to play the opening match of the season:
Geoff Cox/Bill Goodwin
Chris Price/Bob Coe
Gary Edwards/Gill Edwards
Steve Edwards/Judi Murphy
Mike Carr/Ray Groves

On Thursday 21st February at Gramacho we played the third round of the VACS Throphy. Thanks to all the SDM ladies who played and also the two ladies who offered themselves as reserves. It was very much appreciated. Well we tried our best to move up the table today but it did rain heavily on us for a couple of holes and the ones out later got another drenching on the last hole !
